About Dr Sarah Ullman...
In addition to her doctoral work in neuropsychology and behavioral medicine, Dr Ullman
also holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology having trained with several world-renown scientists,
academicians, and clinical psychologists. Her two Master's degrees in clinical and counseling
psychology have sub-specialization in Trauma and Neuropsychology. Along with a solid
academic research background, her clinical work while clearly behavioral in application, is
the beneficiary of a well-entrenched theoretical overlay of psychodynamic, existential, and
Taoist theory and philosophy.
In conjunction with her research efforts and global speaking engagements, Dr U (pronounced
'you') as many of her patients refer to her, has been a practicing psychotherapist for the past
30 years. Her primary clinical focus remains the diagnosis and treatment specific to disorders
of arousal dysregulation. This population includes children and adults that have experienced
early childhood trauma such as sexual abuse, neglect and/or violence. Unfortunately and
through no fault of their own, a great many of these children, unable to self-regulate their
emotions secondary to their abuse, develop issues in adulthood such as substance (drug and
alcohol) and process (sex, food, self-harm, gambling) addictions, posttraumatic stress disorder
(PTSD), explosive uncontrollable anger, and personality distortions that may include Narcissistic
(NPD) and Borderline (BPD) personality disorders. Dr Ullman neuropsychologically tests,
renders diagnosis and treats children and adults with these issues in individual, group, couples,
and family settings.
Dr Ullman teaches at various colleges and universities, is an active emergency disaster responder
for military and governmental agencies, and maintains a private practice in the Philadelphia
Pennsylvania area of the United States. In addition to the local office, a considerable
portion of her practice includes an international clientele via Skype or FaceTime.
This website is the culmination of nearly 20 years of Dr Ullman's original neuroscience research
that finally put sexual addiction on the diagnostic table, ending the sex addiction debate once
and for all. Dr Ullman's research includes the first and only research-based, neuroscientifically-
validated and peer-reviewed test battery for sexual addiction.
